Designing for Well-Being: Restorative Classrooms in Action

Course Description

Multiple studies and student reflections reveal a compelling insight: when classrooms are experienced as restrictive or uninspiring, student wellbeing and engagement suffer. Designing for Well-Being: Restorative Classrooms in Action invites participants to explore how intentional classroom design can transform everyday learning spaces into environments that support wellbeing, curiosity, and meaningful learning. Through the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies, purposeful connections to nature, and the creation of memorable learning moments, this session examines how space can positively influence both student experience and educator practice. Grounded in real-world classroom transformation efforts and informed by research from Flex-ED, Schools That Heal, and The Power of Moments, participants will explore five big ideas and leave with 15 practical, easy-to-apply strategies for creating restorative classrooms—one learning space at a time.
